The September long weekend is a great time to paddle...river levels are usually reasonable, and most of the bugs and tourists are gone! The Jasper area offers day trip opportunities for all types of paddlers... scenic crystal clear lake paddling (Edith, Annettee, Patricia, Pyramid, Maligne) and river paddling (various reaches of the Athabasca River and the Miette River.) River paddling is from Class 1 to Class III, requiring intermediate river skills.  Floatation bags, helmet, throw bag are required and wet/dry suit is highly recommended.

We recommend camping at the unserviced sites at quiet Wabasso Campground (Kathryn is in Wabasso Campground site A9) but the Park offers serviced sites at Whistler and Wapiti campgrounds too. You can choose where you wish to camp and book your own site. Besides booking your campsite, you will need to bring or buy a National Park Pass for the days you are in the Park.

We will decide each evening where the various groups of paddlers want to go the next day.  If you can lead a lake or river day-trip, please contact Kathryn in advance of the weekend.
